About
Just starting your chicken-keeping journey? Or thinking of adding a few more birds to your flock? You’re in the right place. Whether you want fresh eggs, a family flock, or the simple joy of raising chickens, choosing the right breed can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve hand-selected breeds that are friendly, hardy, and perfect for small- to medium-sized coops—ideal for beginners and seasoned keepers alike.
Breeds that we consider to be great for beginners include: Bantam Bielefelder, Crele Bielefelder, and Silver Bielefelder, Silver Laced Barnevelder, Lavender and Split Lavender Wyandotte, Light Sussex, Pavlovskaya, black and red mottled Pita Pinta Asturiana, Wheaten Sulmtaler, and Niederrheiner. If there’s a breed you’re hoping for, please mention your preference in the notes at checkout — we’ll do our best to accommodate, though we can’t guarantee specific selections in an assortment.
Orders of 1–3 chicks are guaranteed to include at least one breed. Orders of 4–5 chicks will include a minimum of two breeds, and orders of 6 or more chicks will feature at least four different breeds. We always strive to provide as much variety as possible. You are also welcome to mix and match breeds or assortments to meet our six-chick shipping minimum.
The price listed applies to each day-old chick or egg.
